Museums are a fantastic place to take learning outside of the classroom. Littlehampton Museum has a variety of learning opportunities for all ages. See below for more information.
Online Learning Resources
Here at Littlehampton Museum we are working hard to produce learning resources that can either be used by Teachers in the classroom or by families who are learning from home. Each pack contains an overview of the topic and has activities for pupils to undertake. All the packs will be based on our collections here at the Museum. If there are any topics you would like to see us cover please email us.
Please click on the buttons to the right to download our current packs.
(downloadable Museum trails can be found at the bottom of this page)
Schools and Groups
We welcome school parties with a maximum group size of 30 children to visit the galleries. The galleries offer an excellent opportunity to study the history of Littlehampton as well as learn about curriculum based topics such as Archaeology, Social History and Natural History. For more information on school visits please download the teacher information pack in the resources section below.
Group Visits
The Museum is happy to welcome groups to the Museum, we just ask that a month’s notice is given to ensure there are no clashes with other groups or school visits. The Museum is a popular destination for those looking to find out about the history of the town and makes an excellent visit when combined with other local attractions such as the RNLI lifeboat station and the Beach. For more ideas and information visit www.visitlittlehampton.co.uk.
Staff led activities
Schools' Workshops
The museum is currently in the process of developing schools’ workshops and cannot currently offer any workshops run by Museum Staff. However we are happy to provide space at the Museum if you wish to run your own workshops outside of the classroom.
Public talks
Museum staff are available to book for public talks throughout the year with a minimum notice period of 4 weeks.
All talks are currently provided free of charge to community groups meeting within normal staff working hours, but donations in support of Littlehampton Museum are appreciated. Out of hours talks outside of Littlehampton may be subject to charges.
Staff are experienced in giving talks on various aspects of local history and general interest, and with enough notice can research and provide a lecture on specific subjects that would be of interest to local groups.
To request a talk or to enquire as to the topics available, please contact Museum Staff on 01903 738100 or at museum@littlehampton-tc.gov.uk.
Loan Boxes
The Museum has a number of Loan boxes on offer which provide an opportunity to get hands on with the collection in your own environment. Each box comes with a number of real and replica objects as well as a booklet with information and suggested activities. To see the Loan boxes we offer please download the loan box list in the resources section below. Boxes cost £5 per week payable upon collection.
